Taken: Season Two Renewal for NBC Action TV Show

Taken TV show on NBC: season 2 renewal

It looks like Bryan Mills will be coming back for more but he’ll also have a new boss. The Taken TV show has been renewed for a second season on NBC.

A prequel set thirty years prior to the Liam Neeson feature film trilogy, Taken follows former Green Beret, Bryan Mills (Clive Standen).  The NBC cast also includes Jennifer Beals, Gaius Charles, Brooklyn Sudano, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Michael Irby, James Landry Hébert, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Simu Liu, and Ali Kazami.

The first season of Taken averaged a 1.00 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.13 million total viewers. It’s one of the lower-rated scripted NBC TV shows and had the advantage of following The Voice on Monday nights.

Despite disappointing ratings in the US, Taken has performed well internationally so that no doubt had a big impact on the decision to renew the show. Season two will have 16 episodes, three more than the freshman season.

The series will also have a new showrunner (TBD) in season two That person will reportedly be expected to tweak the show’s creative direction. Alex Cary adapted the story for television and served as one of the executive producers, as well as the Taken’s first season showrunner.

What do you think? Do you like the Taken TV show? Are you glad that it’s been renewed for a second season or, do you think it should have been cancelled instead?
