The Assassin is headed to Prime Video. The new thriller, from Harry and Jack Williams, has just started filming in Greece, and Keeley Hawes (The Durrells) and Freddy Highmore (The Good Doctor, above) have been cast as its leads.
Per THR, the six-episode series “follows a retired assassin called Julie, played by Hawes who, while living a secluded life on a remote Greek island, has a somewhat thorny reunion with Highmore, portraying her estranged son Edward.”
The reunion turns dangerous when the two are forced to go on the run together when the mother’s past comes back to haunt her.
Hannah Blyth, head of TV for Prime Video UK, said the following about the upcoming series:
“From the moment Harry and Jack shared their vision for The Assassin, we knew that it would resonate perfectly with our audience. It’s been a true pleasure to watch their scripts come to life with our fantastic cast, led by Keeley and Freddie. The Assassin promises to deliver a high-stakes thriller with a dynamic mother-son relationship at its core, packed with twists and turns that will keep our audience hooked from start to finish. The premiere date for The Assassin will be announced later.
