NBC’s head of alternative programming, Paul Telegdy, said “We always need to know that we can cast the show and that’s the bit of process we’re at which is the restocking [of celebrities] and that can take some time… So no, no plans for an announcement [about the show being renewed].”
As to Trump’s tweets, Telegdy noted, “He’s in the business of creating his own headlines and we’re in the business of creating ours… Sometimes the two mesh and sometimes they don’t. But merrily on his way he goes, and we’ll make our decisions around programming The Apprentice based on our consideration of whether it will still rate.”
Though the last season of Celebrity Apprentice was down by 21% in the demo, the competition series often won its timeslot. Telegdy added, “That’s of value to us in a world where time period wins on NBC aren’t always in great supply.”
Earlier today, a Twitter follower asked Trump when casting on Celebrity Apprentice would be completed and he replied, “We are casting now-some great people!”
