TCGS Returns for Ten One-Hour Episodes in March

FUSION announced today it has picked up “The Chris Gethard Show” (TCGS) for a second season. From its origins as a stage show at New York City’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre to developing a cult-like following as a public access television show to making its national debut on FUSION’S in 2015, “The Chris Gethard Show” is only getting bigger and better. “TCGS” will be expanding to ten one-hour episodes for its second season on FUSION premiering this March.

“Last year me and my gang of oddballs had a real good time stirring up trouble on FUSION and I am excited we get another run at it,” said Chris Gethard. “This season I plan on making television so bold that every episode will either make you feel emotions you haven’t felt in years and/or feel like you’re hallucinating.” Gethard announced the second season pick-up to his fans today on Periscope.

”Chris Gethard is changing television and the form of the talk show as we know it. We can’t wait to see what Chris does with a second season as he continues to break ground with this show and his staunch, unwavering support of Donald Trump,” said co-executive producer Will Ferrell.

“Gethard’s authentic brand of comedy broke through for FUSION in a big way last year and we’re thrilled to double the amount of TCGS in 2016,” said Fusion Chief Programming Officer Wade Beckett. “I’m proud to say that Chris and the team rose to our challenge and took audience interaction and real-time participation to a level never-before-seen in late night. We can’t wait to share what the next level looks like from the biggest risk-taker and most genuine comedian working today.”

“The Chris Gethard Show” promises two things: an immersive fan experience and something different every week. Season one of TCGS on FUSION tackled a range of subjects including body image with Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer of “Broad City,” fear with SNL’s Aidy Bryant, sleep deprivation with Seth Meyers, asked “Are you OK?” with Ellie Kemper, and created an episode for dogs with Jason Sudeikis where the entire live studio audience consisted of dogs. Gethard and Will Ferrell also married three couples on live TV. In addition, “TCGS” took its promise to deliver the most interactive show on television to the next level by giving viewers a virtual front-row seat to the unpredictable action that unfolds each week by producing a full-length VR episode.

“TCGS” made its national television debut in May 2015 on FUSION to rave reviews. The A.V. Club called TCGS “the future of TV talk shows.” ”[Gethard] is poised to shake up late night the same way David Letterman did more than 33 years ago,“ said VICE. “The Best Late-Night TV Show” according to Complex who added, “Gethard is infusing the late night landscape with a burst of personal warmth and well-needed unpredictability.” “One of the most exciting things on TV …there is no show on TV like it.“ according to The Verge. “Meet the next comedian to change late-night forever: Chris Gethard, talk show renegade for the Tumblr generation,” said Salon. “[The Chris Gethard Show] is all very next-generation,” said the Los Angeles Times.

“The Chris Gethard Show” is produced by Funny Or Die in conjunction with FUSION. Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Owen Burke, Chris Gethard, JD Amato, Brian Stern, and Anna Wenger serve as executive producers.

“The Chris Gethard Show” is a part of FUSION’s unique brand of comedy – dedicated to challenging the status quo and creating shifts in the way people look at the world around us. FUSION’s topical comedy offering also includes “No, You Shut Up!” hosted by Paul F. Tompkins and F-COMEDY, the network’s digital comedy studio.
