The Comedians: Cancelled by FX; No Season Two + Star Reactions

The Comedians TV show on FX: canceled, no season 2 FX has cancelled their mockumentary comedy series The Comedians after one season of 13 episodes.

The Comedians stars Billy Crystal as a comedy legend who’s reluctantly paired with edgy up-and-coming star Josh Gad for a late night sketch comedy show. Egos and generations soon collide on The Billy & Josh Show — much to the dismay of the show’s crew. The rest of the cast includes Stephnie Weir, Matt Oberg, Megan Ferguson, and Dana Delany.

The series debuted on April 9th to small ratings — a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 878,000 viewers. The numbers dropped much lower as the season progressed and the finale, which aired at the end of June, drew a 0.13 rating with 306,000.

Showrunner Ben Wexler broke the news of the cancellation and wrote, “#TheComedians is cancelled at FX. I could not be more proud of the work we all did.”

The stars of the show had these comments:

What do you think? Did you like The Comedians TV show? Should it have been renewed for a second season or, did FX make the right call in cancelling it?
