TV show description:
This is a satirical parody of the nightly news and features commentary by anchor Jon Stewart about the nation’s politics and the circus of the national media.
Each show opens with a monologue from Stewart about recent headlines and then features a report from a correspondent, joining Stewart at the anchor desk or reporting live from “the field.” Reports from correspondents typically include illogical and embellished slants on current events. In the final segment, Stewart interviews a famous personality, from politicians to actors and musicians to authors. The show then ends with “Your Moment of Zen,” a random, amusing clip of video, usually culled from recent news event footage.
The program also features regular segments from contributors: Lewis Black in “Back in Black” discussing stories in the media that have “fallen through the cracks;” in “Trendspotting” Dimitri Martin dishes on all things hip at the moment; “This Week in God” features Stephen Colbert examining “everything God did this week;” “Ad Nauseam” with Steve Carrell provides his observations on advertisements; and Jason Jones examines what is necessary to survive a bad situation in “Are You Prepared?!”
The show has spurred the careers of its comedian correspondents which include Steve Carrell, Stephen Colbert, Frank DeCaro, Ed Helms, Beth Littleford, Mo Rocca, Dave Attell, Rob Coddry, Nancy Walls, Samantha Bee, and Jason Jones.

In a special extended finale, Stewart starts to cover the evening’s Republican Presidential candidate debates which leads into cameo appearances of many current and former correspondants. They include Samantha Bee, Lewis Black, Steve Carell, Wyatt Cenac, Michael Che, Nate Corrdry, Rob Corrdry, Josh Gad, Ed Helms, John Hodgman, Jordan Klepper, Hasan Minhaj, Olivia Munn, John Oliver, Rob Riggle, Mo Rocca, Jessica Williams, and Larry Wilmore.
New host Trevor Noah shows up a bit too early for his own show and former Daily Show host Craig Kilborn sends a recorded message. Stephen Colbert appears last and delivers a heartfelt tribute to his friend.
A montage of Daily Show frenemies/former guests offer farewell messages. They include Arby’s CEO Paul Brown, Gov. Chris Christie, Rep. Charles Rangel, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Mika Brzezinski, Joe Scarborough, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Wolf Blitzer, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Secretary of State John Kerry, Bill O’Reilly, and Sen. John McCain.
Next, Stewart narrates a trip backstage to thank all of the people that helped to put the show together. This is followed by Stewart’s farewell message and his own “moment of Zen”, a performance by legendary rocker Bruce Springstein.
