This television drama series is executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and is based on the 2009 film of the same name. A Girlfriend Experience (GFE) is a sexual encounter between an escort and a client that involves sexual intimacy and some degree of emotional intimacy.

A law student at Chicago Burnham Law School and an intern at the prestigious Kirkland & Allen law firm, Christine Reade (Riley Keough) becomes intrigued when a friend introduces her to the world of GFEs — where the boundaries between a financial transaction and a romantic relationship are blurred.

Attracted to the rush of control and intimacy, Christine has to confront her own conflicting identities. However, she quickly learns to navigate and manipulate the politics of both worlds to get what she wants.

A power lawyer, husband and father, David Tellis (Paul Sparks) is a partner at KIrkland & Allen. He seems to have it all — including a secret. His relationship with his new intern, Christine, threatens to derail both of their futures.

A partner at the prestigious law firm, Erin Roberts (Mary Lynn Rajskub) is both friend and foe to David and Christine. Meanwhile, Christine’s sister, Annabel Reade (Amy Seimetz), is a public defender and is her sibling’s connection to home.

Avery Suhr (Kate Lyn Shell) is Christine’s friend from law school who happily introduces her to her side career as a GFE. Once Christine starts having success, Avery becomes quite jealous.
