The Goldbergs: Season Three Ratings

Last season, The Goldbergs was the only scripted series on ABC that was up in the ratings year-to-year — thanks in part to the sitcom being given a better timeslot. Will the numbers keep rising or will they fall? Cancelled or renewed for a fourth season (to give it enough episodes for syndication)? Stay tuned.

Set in the late 1980s, The Goldbergs, revolves around a family from Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Youngest son Adam (Sean Giambrone) videotapes his family’s craziness and provides commentary as an adult (Patton Oswalt). The rest of the family is played by Wendi McLendon-Covey, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, George Segal, and Jeff Garlin.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Last year comparison: The second season of The Goldbergs averaged a 2.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.04 million total viewers.
