A&E NETWORK GREENLIGHTS REAL LIFE SERIES “THE GOVERNOR’S WIFE” FEATURING 85-YEAR-OLD LEGENDARY FORMER LOUISIANA GOVERNOR EDWIN EDWARDS, HIS 34-YEAR-OLD WIFE & HER SEXAGENARIAN STEP-DAUGHTERS NETWORK ORDERS 12 EPISODES FROM LEFTFIELD PICTURES TO PREMIERE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13 AT 10PM ET/PT

NEW YORK, NY – JANUARY 31, 2013 – A&E Network has picked up a new real life series, “The Governor’s Wife,” it was announced today by David McKillop, Executive Vice President, Programming, A&E Network. The series follows former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards and his 34-year-old wife, Trina, as they redefine a “new normal” in the new South, and will premiere Wednesday, March 13 at 10PM ET/PT.

Edwin Edwards, now 85 years old and still dubbed the “King of Louisiana,” shocked the state (and his family) when he married Trina Grimes Scott, a woman 50 years his junior. They became pen pals while Edwin was serving an 8 1/2 year prison sentence for bribery and extortion, charges stemming from his tenure as Governor of Louisiana, and married when he was released. This colorful couple heads a newly combined family comprised of Edwin’s daughters, Anna, a 62-year-old, four-time divorcée and Victoria, a hardened 60-year-old ex-showgirl, along with Trina’s sons from a previous marriage, Logan, 15 and Trevor, 13.

The series follows Trina as she attempts to fit into the former governor’s upscale world and busy social life while trying to get along with daughters twice her age and corral her teenage sons. Between school projects, running for president of the Homeowner’s Association, fending off skeptics who think she’s a gold digger, and thoughts of adding a baby of their own to the mix, the Edwards clan’ truly represent a new take on the modern family.

“The Governor’s Wife” is produced for A&E Networks by Leftfield Pictures (“Pawn Stars”) and SSS Entertainment. Executive producers for Leftfield Pictures are Brent Montgomery, David George and Dominick Pupa. Executive producer for SSS Entertainment is Shaun Sanghani.
