The Hills: MTV Reality Show Ending, No Season Seven

What will “Speidi” do without an outlet for their antics? MTV and producers have decided the upcoming season will be the last for The Hills reality series. From what we saw in the offseason, it doesn’t seem like that’ll be the last we see of Heidi and Spencer Pratt.

The Hills debuted on MTV in 2006 as a spin-off of Laguna Beach. It follows star Lauren Conrad to a new life in Los Angeles as she meets up with her friend Heidi Montag and new friend Audrina Patridge. Also starring on the show are Spender Pratt, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Brody Jenner, and Lo Bosworth. When Lauren decided to leave the show, Kristin Cavallari, who had appeared on Laguna Beach, stepped into her stylish shoes.

The series enters its sixth season on April 27th and that will be its last. Creator Adam DiVello told EW, “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.” He feels the kids have found themselves, gone down different paths, and created the careers they were looking for.

MTV’s President of Programming, Tony DiSanto, feels “lucky and honored to have worked with this cast and tell their stories for this long, and we are grateful to the many dedicated fans who have stuck with us over the years.”

Certainly no one is going to leave quietly. We are being promised an explosive, drama-filled twelve episodes for this final season. After announcing last fall that she was addicted to plastic surgery, the cameras will follow Heidi as she goes back to Colorado to see her parents. We’ll see her mother’s reaction to seeing her daughter’s new look for the first time. Executive producer Liz Gateley promises it will be “a really touching, but heartbreaking, scene to watch.”

Are you sorry The Hills is ending?

No one’s sure what’s going on with her husband, Spencer. While rumors have persisted that he was taken off the show. DiVello reports that he’s “dealing with some stuff right now, and once he gets through that, we’ll be back to shooting Spencer again.” He goes on to promise we’ll see him in most episodes. Fans that watched Speidi on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here know the married couple can be very difficult to work with.

Away from the Pratts, Patridge will be dating singer Ryan Cabrera. She confirmed to Ryan Seacrest a year ago that she’ll be filming her own reality series called The Audrina Show. That will reportedly air on MTV later this year and will co-star Lo Bosworth.

In addition, Cavallari will deal with the rumors that came out of Miami during the Super Bowl that she was wasted on drugs and looking for cocaine. Stephanie Pratt will be dealing with her own sobriety, coming off last year’s DUI.

The one thing that MTV and producers aren’t sharing is if Conrad will return to The Hills one last time before the end.

What do you think? Are you sorry that The Hills is coming to an end? Will you miss it?
