The Mysteries of Laura revolves around a brilliant-but-harried NYPD homicide detective (Messing) who must also juggle raising her young twin boys as a single mom. The rest of the cast includes Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, Max Jenkins, Callie Thorne, and Med Steedle.
The series drew mediocre ratings last season — averaging a 1.22 in the demo and 7.45 million — but NBC renewed it anyway for a second season and ordered 13 episodes to start.
The ratings haven’t gotten any better this year with the show averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.08 million. On the bright side, it is doing better than the network’s two Friday night comedies and new Thursday entry The Player (a series sure to be cancelled).
Tonight, while tweeting with fans during the East Coast airing of the program, Messing responded to this question:
@DebraMessing when will we know if @NBCLaura will get a back 9 ? @NBC #MysteriesofLaura

The order hasn’t been officially announced by the network yet but they did order five additional scripts earlier this month.
What do you think? Do you like The Mysteries of Laura TV show? Do you think NBC should have ordered more episodes? Does this series deserve a third season or a pink slip?
