The Neighbors: Premiere Ratings

TV ratings for The Neighbors TV showLast night, ABC debuted their newest sitcom, The Neighbors. The network gave the new show a great ratings lead-in, right behind the premiere of Modern Family, their highest-rated show. How did it do? A candidate for quick cancellation? A big hit?

Based on the fast affiliate ratings, The Neighbors attracted a 3.3 in the 18-49 demographic with 9.28 million total viewers. That was a healthy sampling.

Year-to-year, the network was down by 46% in the demo because ABC started the 2011-12 season with an hour edition of Modern Family.

Compared to last season’s premiere of Happy Endings in the same timeslot, the network was up by 6% in the demo (vs a 3.1 rating) and up by 28% in viewership (vs 7.25 million).

Overall, The Neighbors did well for ABC but, based on the negative reviews and comments, one has to think that there’s a very good chance those numbers will take a serious nosedive in week two. We shall see.

What do you think? Did you watch The Neighbors last night? Will you be tuning in to watch it again? Is it better than people think it is?
