TV show description:
Based on the Criminal Justice TV show from the BBC, this dramatic series delves into the intricate story of a fictitious murder case in New York City.
The series follows the police investigation and legal proceedings, all the while examining the criminal justice system and the purgatory of Rikers Island, where the accused awaits his trial.
A Pakistani-American college student who lives in Queens in New York, Nasir ‘Naz’ Khan (Riz Ahmed) uses his father’s cab one night. He intends to attend a popular party and he picks up a young woman.
After a night of sex and drugs with the woman, he wakes up to find her stabbed to death but has no recollection of what happened. Naz leaves the scene but is arrested for a minor traffic violation and ends up at a police station. The police find a weapon in his possession that matches the suspected murder weapon and different witnesses identify him.
Naz is soon interrogated by detective Dennis Box (Bill Camp) and the accused eventually gets a lawyer — world-weary defense attorney Jack Stone (John Turturro).

Stone is thrust into the spotlight as a controversy involving the defense emerges.
