What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on the CBS television network, The Odd Couple revolves around endearing slob Oscar Madison (Matthew Perry), a sportswriter, and uptight neat freak Felix Unger (Thomas Lennon), a photographer. They’re two former college buddies who become unlikely roommates after the demise of their marriages. Despite how exasperated Oscar and Felix make each other, in the end, these mismatched friends agree they can help each other move on from their divorces. Somehow they seem to make their crazy living arrangement work. Lindsay Sloane, Wendell Pierce, and Yvette Nicole Brown round out the sitcom’s cast.

 

Season Three Ratings

Season three of The Odd Couple averaged a 1.02 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.99 million viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by 27% in the demo and down by 26% in viewers. Find out how The Odd Couple stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.

 

 

Telly’s Take

This is yet another remake of a classic series. Despite having a proven title and two talented comedy stars, The Odd Couple hasn’t really caught on. The ratings dropped further in season three, and although CBS could have ordered more than 13 episodes, they didn’t. The previous two seasons began airing midseason so the network only needed 13 installments. Odd Couple is a long way from having enough episodes for syndication, the ratings are way down and the network has lots of sitcom options. I doubt that it will be back for a fourth season.
