TV show description:
This dramatic series follows a family at the center of a controversial cult — The Meyerist Movement — as they struggle with relationships, faith, and power. The Lanes experience the gravitational pull of belief and what it means to choose between the life we live and the life we want.
A convert to Meyerism with a wayward past, Eddie Lane (Aaron Paul) returns home after completing his 6R training in Peru, where he saw a horrifying vision of the organization’s truth. He suffers a crisis of faith and all that he’s come to accept as truth is fundamentally challenged.
His wife is Sarah Lane (Michelle Monaghan) who was born into a Meyerist family. Her compassion and authority have made her an important figure in The Movement. Her devotion, however, is tested when she uncovers her husband’s falsehoods.
Hawk (Kyle Allen) is Eddie and Sarah’s devoted teenage son who wants nothing more than to drop out of high school and join The Movement full time. His loyalty wavers when a popular classmate, Ashley Fields (Amy Forsyth), pursues a relationship with him. Ashley would normally have nothing to do with “a weird cult kid” but, after a financial crisis hits home, she turns to Hawk and his family for help.
Cal Roberts (Hugh Dancy) is the charismatic, unofficial leader of The Movement. His ambition puts him at odds with the organization’s existing leadership and roils Sarah and Eddie’s already turbulent marriage. Back from three years in San Diego, Cal leads The Movement on a disaster relief mission in New Hampshire.
Mary Cox (Emma Greenwell) is an addict who’s been saved by Cal and a team of Meyerists after a tornado leveled her hometown. Now freed from a life of abuse, she becomes infatuated with Cal and devotes herself entirely to The Movement.
Alison Kemp (Sarah Jones) is a defector of Meyerism who holds The Movement responsible for the mysterious death of her husband. She employs Eddie’s help in a search for answers — and redemptions.
Abe Gaines (Rockmond Dunbar) is an FBI investigator who seems to be the only agent suspicious of the mysterious religious sect that recently responded to the natural disaster. As he delves deeper into the investigation, he faces personal troubles at home and is forced to reflect on his own faith.

Despite everyone’s objections, Eddie is determined to reveal the truth about Stephen Meyer and the origins of the Movement. But a dark force plots to stop him, and end Meyerism, once and for all.
