The Sing-Off: NBC TV Series Renewed for Season Three

The sweet harmonies are going to keep coming on NBC. The peacock network has decided to renew The Sing-Off for a third season.

Hosted by Nick Lachey, the reality competition pits a capella groups against each another in pursuit of a Sony Music recording contract and $100,000. The judges are Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Nicole Scherzinger.

Airing in December of 2009, the first season of The Sing-Off attracted an average raitng of 2.3 in the 18-49 demographic and 6.88 million viewers. The series returned for a special week-long event this past December and saw a significant improvement. The five episodes averaged a 2.9 rating in the demo and 8.56 million.

The Sing-Off is NBC’s second-highest rated reality series of the season. Considering the fact that it’s NBC’s third-highest rated series overall, its no surprise that NBC has opted for a third season.

The network hasn’t announced when season three of The Sing-Off will air but another holiday run seems likely.

What do you think? Glad to hear the show will be back for another round?
