The Singing Bee: Renewed for Season Five

Singing Bee renewed for season fiveHosted by Joey Fatone, The Singing Bee ran for one season on NBC (from July until December 2007) before being cancelled. It was later revived by CMT with Melissa Peterman (Working Class) as host. The new version started airing in June 2009 and became a big success.

It’s actually now one of the cable channel’s highest-rated series. To no surprise, The Singing Bee has been renewed for a fifth season (season four on CMT). There’s no word on how many episodes have been ordered this time around or when they’ll start airing. The number in past seasons have varied on CMT, ranging from nine to 20 episodes per cycle.

Versions of The Singing Bee have been produced in 30 countries. The Gurin Company is shopping the format to additional buyers at NATPE this week.

What do you think? Are you a fan of this game show? Are you glad to hear that it’s been renewed?
