The Tourist has found a new home in the US. Season one was released on HBO Max in March 2022, but the Max streaming service dropped the BBC series in August, despite a second season being produced. Netflix has picked up the US rights to the show, and both seasons will arrive early next year.
Starring Jamie Dornan, Danielle Macdonald, and Greg Larson, the series was created and written by Harry and Jack Williams. The story follows a man (Dornan) who wakes up in an Australian hospital without his memories.
BBC revealed the plot of season two:
Set against the striking backdrop of Ireland, The Tourist Series 2 sees Elliot (Jamie Dornan) and Helen (Danielle Macdonald) confronted by friends and foes. As they attempt to uncover the secrets of Elliot’s past, they are soon dragged into a longstanding family feud where they face the dangerous consequences of his past actions.
A raft of new characters join the cast including Detective Ruairi Slater (Conor MacNeill), Niamh Cassidy (Olwen Fouéré) and the McDonnell family – Donal (Diarmaid Murtagh), Orla (Nessa Matthews), Fergal (Mark McKenna), and Frank (Francis Magee).
The first season of The Tourist will arrive on Netflix on February 1st, while the second season of six episodes will be released on February 29th.
