Deadline reports that USA Network has decided not to move forward with the two-hour TV show pilot for The Wilding TV series. The Wilding is from creator and writer Silka Luisa. It is executive produced by Tim Kring, whose Heroes Reborn TV series, while not technically cancelled, ended after its first and only season on NBC.
The cast of The Wilding includes: Jordana Spiro, Antonio Jaramillo, Nadia Alexander, LisaGay Hamilton, and Dominic Fumusa. According to Deadline, Universal Cable Productions will shop the supernatural drama to other outlets.
From Deadline:
The project, starring Jordana Spiro, was part of a broader initiative at UCP and the NBCUniversal cable networks it supplies, including USA and Syfy, to jump-start a greater volume of high-end series at a lower license fee to the nets through a model that involves UCP supplementing the budget for the shows through financing via collaborations with international networks and SVOD deals.
Set in suburban North Carolina, The Wilding centered around the Hayes family — a typical, loving blended family seeking a fresh start after their 17-year-old daughter, Kayla, is released from a mental health institution following ten years of treatment. Their ideals are quickly threatened, however, when Kayla’s apparitions of the dead begin to haunt them once again. The pilot was directed by Ciarán Foy.
USA reportedly gave the pilot the greenlight, back in October.
What do you think? Do you like the sound of The Wilding TV show? If another network picks it up, do you plan to check it out?
