The Tick: Lie to Me Star Joins Amazon Pilot

The Tick TV show on Amazon: season 1 (canceled or renewed?)

Deadline reports Brendan Hines will co-star in The Tick TV series pilot for Amazon. Hines played Eli Loker in the Lie to Me TV series, which was cancelled by FOX in 2011, after three seasons totaling 48 episodes.

In The Tick, Hines is set as a new character, Superian, who is described as a superhero, with “issues.” Peter Serafinowicz stars as the title character in this superhero spoof. The cast of The Tick reboot also includes Griffin Newman and Valorie Curry. In the reimagined project, Tick is recovering from a loss of memory. He re-teams with sidekick Arthur (Newman) to fight evil. Curry plays Arthur’s sister, Dot.

The original live-action version of The Tick premiered on FOX in November 2001 and was cancelled after eight of nine episodes aired, in January, 2002. Patrick Warburton played the title character. The cast of The Tick (2001) also included: David Burke, Liz Vassey, Nestor Carbonell, William Newman, Matt Champagne, Leanza Cornett, Diana Morgan, Dan Sachoff, Jack Armstrong, Maury Ginsberg, Charley Rossman, and Scott L. Schwartz.

What do you think? Have you read the comics? Did you watch the original version of The Tick TV show? Will you check out the new pilot on Amazon?
