At today’s Television Critics Associate winter press tour, TNT President Kevin Reilly announced that the Titans TV series is no longer in development. Deadline quotes Reilly as saying,“We decided it wasn’t where we wanted to go.”

From Deadline:

Written by Oscar winner Goldsman and executive-turned-scribe Marc Haimes, Titans was to revolve around the eponymous group of young superheroes-to-be from the DC Universe. The action series centers on Dick Grayson — better known for his alter ego as Robin — who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new superheroes including Starfire, Raven and many others. Goldsman executive produced, with Haimes serving as co-executive producer for WBTV’s cable division Warner Horizon.

TVLine adds:

Back in May, Reilly told TVLine that some semblance of production could maybe get underway in Summer 2015 — which obviously came and went.
Reilly at that time attributed the delay in even as much as casting to Goldman’s busy schedule, and also noted that he and the writer agreed that a Titans adaptation would need to be special to stand out amid TV’s ever-growing superhero universe.

Are you a fan of DC Comics’ Titans? Do you think TNT should have followed through in developing the show, or is there currently a superhero show glut? Is there another network where you think a Titans TV show would be a good fit? Tell us.
