The Toy Box: Season Two Ratings

The Toy Box TV show on ABC: season 2 ratings (cancel or renew for season 3?)

Ratings-wise, the first season of The Toy Box TV show wasn’t exactly all fun and games for ABC. Rather than cancelling this design competition though, the Alphabet Network is sending it back to school in season two, with (mostly) new kids on the judging panel — and far fewer grownups to bring in the boredom. Is this just what the Nielsen playground monitor ordered? Will The Toy Box be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.

An ABC competitive reality series hosted by Eric Stonestreet, The Toy Box features inventors presenting their toys to judges who are really on their game — actual kids. Adi Ash (age 10), Paxton Booth (age 7), Sydney Mae Estrella (age 9), Kyle Lee (age 7), Joachim Powell (age 11), Gideon Reynolds (age 6), Emma Sobel (age 9), Madison Stevens (age 8), and Olivia Trujillo (age 12) join returnee Noah Ritter (age 8), on the judges panel.

In the second season, there will be a rotating panel of five kid-judges per episode. The winner from each will move on to the finale. The grand prize winner’s toy will be made by Mattel; sold exclusively at Toys ‘R’ Us stores nationwide and on Toysrus.com, where it joins last season’s winner, ArtSplash; and will receive a cash prize of $100,000.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

For comparisons: The first season of The Toy Box on ABC averaged a 0.63 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 2.88 million viewers (live + same day).

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
