Tracker has added a big name to its cast. Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) has joined the CBS Sunday night drama. He will play Russell Shaw, the estranged brother of star Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw. It is unclear if Ackles will appear in the remaining first season episodes or if he’ll be seen in the second season.
This casting news comes only weeks after Hartley announced the casting of Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest) as Colter’s younger sister, Dory.
Starring Hartley, Robin Weigert, Abby McEnany, Eric Graise, Fiona Rene, and Mary McDonnell, the Tracker series follows a lone-wolf survivalist (Hartley) as he travels the country and uses his formidable tracking skills. He helps law enforcement and private citizens in exchange for reward money.
Ackles said the following about joining the series in the comments of a video released by Hartley announcing Ackles’ addition to the series:
“I put that caution ⚠️ tape up for a reason. Me and Galaga can get messy. 🤕 I had too much fun mixing it up with you, Hartley. Let’s do it again.”
Update: CBS later released a photo from the season’s penultimate episode, “Off the Books”, which will air on Sunday, May 12th. The synopsis:
Colter is forced to team up with his estranged brother, Russell, who enlists his help to track down a former army buddy who’s gone missing after several weeks of paranoid behavior. The investigation takes the brothers into the world of Special Forces missions, shady off-the-books programs and conspiracy theories, all while they contend with their family’s past.
