It’s back. MTV has announced the return of its Total Request Live TV show franchise, with the title officially rendered as TRL. The series originally premiered in 1998 and ran until it was cancelled in 2008. The new season of TRL will premiere on Monday, October 2, 2017. D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Amy Pham, Tamara Dhia and Lawrence Jackson will host on a rotating basis.

DAILY SHOW WILL AIR LIVE FROM EXPANDED TIMES SQUARE STUDIO

NEW YORK, NY  July 31, 2017 – MTV’s “TRL” franchise is set to premiere on Monday, October 2nd. The daily live show will air from the network’s iconic Times Square studio and become the prime destination for youth culture and a meeting point for millions of fans. Expanded by nearly 200 percent, the 8,700 square-foot multi-functional studio allows for bigger audiences, expansive sets and simultaneous productions including new digital extensions of “TRL.”

The show will integrate linear, social and digital under the “TRL” brand and bring teen passion points to life, while continuing to incorporate audience requests. The digital extensions will feature platform-specific, premium content across YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Musical.ly. “TRL” will feature a cast of five rotating hosts including D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Amy Pham, Tamara Dhia and Lawrence Jackson.

Amy Pham
Amy Pham is a DJ, actress and television host who has performed at events and festivals with Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Maroon 5 and Lady Gaga to name a few. She has worked with Jennifer Lopez and Adam Sandler and has been featured in projects for Netflix, Blumhouse, Awestruck TV and Go90. She has also been a creative ambassador for CoverGirl, Maybelline, Forever 21 and Macy’s.

D.C. Young Fly
Rapper, actor and comedian John Whitfield, better known as D.C. Young Fly, has over 5 million followers across social media. A talented musician, D.C. has worked with artists such as Rich Homie Quan, Fetty Wap, Young Dolph, Kevin Gates, B.o.B., Trae the Truth, producer Mike Will and more. He can currently be seen on MTV’s hit improv show, “Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ’N Out” and has played prominent roles in BET’s “New Edition” biopic as well as Will Packer’s “Almost Christmas.”

Erik Zachary 
Erik Zachary is currently an on-air host for iHeartMedia’s 103.5 KISS FM in Chicago. After graduating from Columbia College Chicago, Erik climbed the ranks at iHeart, launching a new country station and syndicating his show to Boston and Sacramento. In addition, Erik’s YouTube channel features celebrity interviews, comedy sketches and vlogs.

Lawrence Jackson
Lawrence K. Jackson is a journalist, actor, producer and television/radio personality who joins MTV from Revolt. He has interviewed celebrities including Usher, Sean Combs, Adam Silver, Kevin Hart, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Durant and more and his work has been featured in ESPN, ABC and Essence Magazine among others.

Tamara Dhia
Writer, producer and host Tamara Dhia joins from Complex, where she was one of the faces of the brand, delivering pop culture news to millions of viewers daily. She’s interviewed some of the biggest names in pop culture including Zayn, DJ Khaled, Amber Rose, Kylie Jenner and Desiigner.
