Are you a fan of NBC‘s Truth Be Told? If so, the Friday night comedy’s outlook is grim and will likely be cancelled. NBC has cut Truth Be Told, from thirteen episodes to ten. After airing twice, Truth Be Told averages a 0.67 in the 18-49 demographic, with a total of 2.412 million viewers — weak ratings numbers for a broadcast network, even in a Friday night death slot.
Starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tone Bell, Vanessa Lachey, and Bresha Webb, Truth Be Told revolves around two diverse couples who are friends and neighbors, and is loosely based on the life of series creator DJ Nash. Gosselaar’s Mitch is a white college professor, married to fierce Filipina lawyer, Tracy (Vanessa Lachey), mother of their daughter Sadie. African-American stand-up comic, Russell (Tone Bell), is Mitch’s best friend. When Mitch overthinks political correctness and puts his foot in it, Russell provides a voice of reason. In turn, Russell’s wife, Angie (Bresha Webb) keeps the uninhibited Russel in check.

This is becoming a trend this fall as the networks are not as trigger happy as previous years and don’t yank underperforming series off the schedule abruptly. Instead, the nets are trimming the lower rated newcomers’ original 13-episode orders and allow them to air all produced episodes in their designated time slots. The multi-camera comedy, which garnered mostly negative reviews, launched behind Undateable on the lower-trafficked Friday night to the worst premiere 18-49 rating for a new show so far this fall and NBC’s worst in-season debut rating ever.
