Knight Rider — The star of the original NBC series, David Hasselhoff, is in talks to reprise his role as Michael Knight for the upcoming NBC TV movie. Soap actor Justin Bruening was previously cast in the role of Knight’s son. If the movie is a ratings success, it’s expected that a new series will be forthcoming. No word if Hasselhoff’s deal would include his participation in the series.
Gilmore Girls — TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello interviewed Gilmore creator Amy Sherman-Palladino on the writers strike picket line and grilled her about the prospect of a Gilmore Girls reunion TV movie. Sherman-Palladino says that she’s certainly open to doing it but no one from the studio has expressed any interest. The two jokingly suggested that it might be a good idea for fans to start picketing the home of Warner Bros. President Peter Roth to get the ball rolling.
Dirty Sexy Money — Despite the ongoing writers strike, ABC has given the order for nine additional episodes of Dirty Sexy Money. While most other shows have shut down, production is almost completed on the 13 initial episodes. Once they’re completed, the show’s production will shut down until the strike is settled and more scripts can be written. Though things can certainly change, this is an excellent sign for Money’s future. Of ABC’s eight new series, only Private Practice, Samantha Who?, Pushing Daisies, and Money had received full season orders.
Star Trek — The U.K.’s Virgin Media has made a deal to broadcast hundreds of hours of Trek on the cable company’s VOD service. The original series will continue to be seen on the Sci Fi Channel but the spin-offs in the franchise will be available via the recently-launched Virgin1 channel and Virgin’s TV Choice On-Demand.
Little House on the Prairie — The Little House musical has been scheduled to premiere at Minneapolis’ Guthrie Theater next summer. Melissa Gilbert, who played daughter Laura Ingalls on television for a decade, portrayed Ma Ingalls in the recent musical workshop production in New York. There’s no word if she’ll remain with the project. Stay tuned!
