TV Show Ratings for Thursday, 04/28/11 [finals]

On FOX, there was a surprising American Idol elimination but the ratings were about the same as last week. Bones was down for the second week in a row.

Over on CBS, the whole line up was down and, with the exception of The Mentalist, they all hit season lows. ABC’s slate was original but didn’t perform very well. The royal edition of 20/20 wasn’t very impressive and both Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice were way down.

One would have thought that Steve Carell’s departure would bring big ratings for NBC and The Office but it didn’t happen. The ratings were up a healthy amount but weren’t even the highest for the season. The rest of the NBC didn’t benefit from the event either.

And finally, The CW’s Vampire Diaries saw a big jump in the females 18-34 demographic but Nikita hit a new series low. That’s not good timing for the latter, especially when network execs are trying to decide if Nikita deserves a second season.
