Undateable: NBC Sitcom Renewed for “Live” Third Season

Undateable TV show on NBC: season 3 "live"The show’s ratings have not been great but Undateable will be back for a third season on NBC — but there will be an interesting twist.

Undateable follows a group of single friends who are trying to figure out the fine art of relationships. The cast includes Chris D’Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Fynn, Bianca Kajlich, and Bridgit Mendler.

The first season of Undateable aired last summer and drew unimpressive ratings, averaging a 0.91 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.78 million viewers. NBC is still struggling in the sitcom department so they renewed it for a second season anyway.

They brought it back in early 2015 as part of the regular season and gave it a solid chance — opting to air it behind their biggest series, The Voice. The numbers have certainly improved but could be much better considering the lead-in. It’s averaged a 1.44 in the demo with 4.94 million.

This week, the cast and crew put on a pair of “live” episodes. You wouldn’t know if from the ratings (viewership was actually down) but the sitcom did get some additional buzz.

Well, now NBC has renewed Undateable for third season — and all of the episodes will be performed “live” for the East Coast audience. There’s a possibility that episodes will be performed again for the West Coast feed as well. It’s unclear if Undateable’s been given a 13 or 22 episode order at this point.

What do you think? Do you like the Undateable TV show? Are you glad that it’s been renewed? Are you more likely to tune in knowing that you’re seeing a real-time “live” performance?
