What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on the WGN America cable channel, Underground stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica De Gouw, Alano Miller, and Christopher Meloni. The cast also includes Christopher Backus, Marc Blucas, Reed Diamond, James Lafferty, Amirah Vann, Bokeem Woodbine, Aisha Hinds, Jasika Nicole, Michael Trotter, Jesse Luken, Sadie Stratton, and Robert Christopher Riley. In the second season, John Legend will guest star as abolitionist Frederick Douglass. A historical drama, Underground follows the heroes of the Underground Railroad who harnessed every bit of their wits, strength, and grit in order to escape slavery and live as free men and women. In season two, their fight for freedom continues, even as tragedy strikes.
 

Season Two Ratings

Telly’s Take

At the beginning of the season, I thought that Underground would be renewed because of its ratings. Now that Outsiders has been cancelled, it’s looking like WGN America wants to get out of the scripted series business. I have a feeling this will be the last season for the series, at least on this channel. I will keep an eye on the ratings, my ear to the ground, and will update this page when I have news to share.
