WGN America has released a teaser of its new Underground Railroad historical TV series, Underground. Creators Misha Green and Joe Pokaski are executive producing, along with Akiva Goldsman, Tory Tunnell, Joby Harold, and John Legend.
Slated to premiere in early in 2016, Underground stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Christopher Meloni, Alano Miller, Jessica De Gouw, Marc Blucas, Adina Porter, Mykelti Williamson, Amirah Vann, Johnny Ray Gill, Chris Chalk, Reed Diamond, Theodus Crane, Renwick Scott, and Jussie Smollett.
Here is the series description, excerpted from an earlier, Tribune Media/WGN America multi-show press release:
For a slave living in the pre-Civil War South, the only road to freedom was a dangerous journey where failure often meant death. “Underground” follows the slaves who set foot on the fabled Underground Railroad, the secret network of men and women who risked their lives aiding them, and the mercenaries tasked with hunting them down at any cost.
