It looks like The Vampire Diaries is coming to an end. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced the upcoming eighth season would be the last for the CW series, Deadline reports.
Earlier, rumors suggested this would be the final season of The Vampire Diaries. The supernatural drama stars Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Candice King, and Kat Graham.
At the show’s Comic-Con panel, co-creator Julie Plec told fans the news was “bittersweet and emotional.” Fellow co-creator Kevin Williamson teased some plans for the upcoming season, saying:
What has yet to happen in Mystic Falls? And there is this really great thing to happened with this final bad.”
It’s still unclear if Nina Dobrev, who left the series after season six, will return for the final season, which premieres on October 21st.
