HBO NOW Highlights — February 2016

The month of February is packed with premieres on HBO NOW — from the returns of a few fan-favorite series to the debut of several box office behemoths.

New original programming in February includes the series premiere of Vinyl, the highly anticipated new drama series from executive producers Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter that takes viewers on a ride through the sex- and drug-addled music business at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop in 1970s New York. Also new is Gonzaga: The March to Madness, which chronicles the basketball team of Gonzaga University during its 2015–16 season, and Animals, an animated late-night series produced by Duplass Brothers Television that focuses on the downtrodden creatures native to Earth’s least habitable environment: New York City. Returning favorites include new seasons of Girls, Togetherness, VICE and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Ballers fans who just can’t get enough Dwayne Johnson will want to check out the debut of both San Andreas and Furious 7, two of the highest grossing movies of 2015, and there will be plenty of ogling opportunities with both Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL starting in February. Other notable theatrical titles include Kung Fu Panda, hot on the heels of Kung Fu Panda 3’s theatrical release in January, plus Transformers, Coraline and One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Additional highlights include four short films that were selected as finalists at the 18th Annual HBO Short Film Competition as part of the 2015 American Black Film Festival.
