Vinyl: Season Two Renewal for HBO Drama

Vinyl TV show on HBO: canceled or renewed?

The music will play on. Only a few days after its premiere, HBO has renewed their new drama, Vinyl, for a second season, Deadline reports.

Vinyl debuted on February 14th with a two-hour premiere directed by Martin Scorsese.

Created by Scorsese, Mick Jagger, Rich Cohen, and Terence Winter, Vinyl tells the story of Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale), a record executive in 1970s New York City. Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, and Paul Ben-Victor also star.

The renewal comes despite lackluster ratings for the first episode. The series’ premiere received only 764,000 viewers.

Nevertheless, the series’ showrunner, Winter, has stated that he already has plans for season two. In an interview with Deadline, he said season two will continue to follow Richie as the show moves deeper into the ’70s and chronicles the emergence of punk and hip-hop.
