How do you like them apples? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple is financing Dr. Dre’s TV series, Vital Signs. The project is a dark, half-hour drama which THR says is semi-autobiographical (for Dre), and at least one episode features an orgy. Reportedly, Sam Rockwell and Mo McCrae are in the Vital Signs cast.
Vital Signs is being produced by Paul Hunter, under his Eye Candy shingle. Empire‘s Robert Munic will executive produce and write all six episodes. Aaron Ginsburg and William Green are also producing. This will be the first original scripted series for Apple.
THR says each episode will take an emotion as its theme and explore how Dre’s character deals with those feelings. As Netflix does with its original series, Apple plans to release the first season all at once. Here is more on Vital Signs, from THR:
While technically a half-hour, the show is not a comedy. Instead, it is described as a dark drama with no shortage of violence and sex. In fact, an episode filming Monday and Tuesday this week featured an extended orgy scene. Sources tell THR that naked extras simulated sex in a mansion in the Bird Streets neighborhood of Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills. (Dre’s wife Nicole Young was on set to witness the shenanigans, one insider says.)
What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Vital Signs TV show? When Apple releases the first season, do you plan to check it out?
