On FOX, The X Factor filled the two hours with a 3.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. It was down by 6% in the demo when compared to last week’s.
On CBS, it was Survivor: Philippines at 8pm with a 3.0 demo rating and 10.16 million viewers. It was also down by 6% in the demo.
That was followed by the season premiere of Criminal Minds. That drew a 3.1 in the demo and 11.59 million, down 24% when compared to last fall. At 10pm, we had the season debut of CSI with a 2.5 rating and 10.66 million. Year-to-year, this venerable series was down by 22% in the demo.
On ABC, the night began with the hour-long season premiere of The Middle. It drew a 2.8 in the demo and 8.97 million, down by 10% when compared to last year’s kick off.
At 9pm, ABC was in first place for the night in both the demo and total viewers with Modern Family. The season premiere drew a 5.5 rating with 14.21 million. Compared to a year ago, the sitcom was down by 10% in the demo.
It was followed by the series premiere of The Neighbors with a 3.3 rating and 9.28 million. That was a healthy sampling. Compared to last fall’s premiere of Happy Endings in the same timeslot, the network was up by 6% in the demo (vs a 3.1 rating) and up by 28% in viewership (vs 7.25 million).
The night finished with a recap episode of Revenge. That drew just a 1.6 rating with 5.39 million. The drama’s second season kicks off this Sunday night.
On NBC, it was the timeslot premiere of Animal Practice at 8pm. It drew just a 1.4 rating in the demo with 5.19 million and was fourth in its timeslot in both categories. Year-to-year, compared to the second week of Up All Night, the network was down by 42% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 14% in viewership (vs 6.05 million). Ugh.
It was followed by the second episode of Guys with Kids with a 1.6 rating and 4.78 million. That sitcom was down by 27% in the demo when compared to the first episode from September 12th.
At 9pm, NBC aired a two hour season premiere of Law & Order: SVU. It garnered a 2.1 rating with 7.10 million — down by 13% year-to-year in the demo.
And finally, on The CW, it was an hour of Oh Sit! with a 0.4 rating and 0.93 million. It was followed by a rerun of Supernatural (0.3 rating and 0.72 million).
