White Collar follows conman Neal Caffrey (Matthew Bomer) who makes a deal to help FBI Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay ) while searching for his missing girlfriend, Kate (Alexandra Daddario). The crime drama also stars Willie Garson, Tiffani Thiessen, Sharif Atkins, Natalie Morales, and James Rebhorn.
The show debuted in October with a bang and 5.4 million viewers. The ratings dwindled to a low of 3.85 million during the first half of its season but ended on a high note. Following the series finale of Monk, White Collar’s fall finale drew 5.5 million.
Though only half of the first season has aired thus far, the show’s already been renewed for a second season. Jeff Eastin, White Collar’s creator and executive producer, first tweeted the news, writing, “White Collar season 2 pickup is official! Congratulations to the best cast and crew on television.”
The pickup was later confirmed by USA. The cable channel’s president of original programming, Jeff Wachtel, said, “Jeff Eastin created a show that was both on-brand and that arguably took USA Network to a new level of sophistication. After breaking out of the gate so strongly, and with finale ratings that actually exceeded the premiere, White Collar was a lock for a second season.”
Its unclear thus far when the second season will air or how many episodes have actually been ordered.
The cast and crew just wrapped production on season one on Sunday. The remaining seven episodes will begin airing on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
