In an answer to prayer, Sky Atlantic has released The Young Pope TV series trailer. Watch it, below. The fictional drama is an eight-part mini-series from writer and director Paolo Sorrentino. A joint production of Sky, HBO, and Canal+, The Young Pope features the first American pontiff, Pope Pius XIII (Jude Law).
The Young Pope TV show cast includes: Jude Law, Diane Keaton, Silvio Orlando, Scott Shepherd, Cécile de France, Javier Cámara, Ludivine Sagnier, Toni Bertorelli, Sebastian Roché, Daniel Vivian, and James Cromwell. The Young Pope is produced by Wildside and co-produced by Haut et Court TV and MEDIAPRO. Executive Producers for Wildside are Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani together with John Lyons.
Sky Atlantic says, “Lenny Belardo is no ordinary Pope. He is the youngest and first American Pope in history. The first official teaser trailer from the Sky, HBO and Canal+ original joint production, The Young Pope, has been revealed, featuring Jude Law as Lenny Belardo, Pope Pius XIII.
Lenny Belardo, aka Pius XIII, is the first American Pope in history. Young and charming, his election might seem the result of a simple and effective media strategy by the College of Cardinals. But, as we know, appearances can be deceptive. Especially in the place and among the people who have chosen the great mystery of God as the guiding light of their existence. That place is the Vatican and those people are the leaders of the Catholic Church. And the most mysterious and contradictory figure of all turns out to be Pius XIII himself. Shrewd and naïve, old-fashioned and very modern, doubtful and resolute, ironic, pedantic, hurt and ruthless, Pius XIII tries to walk the long path of human loneliness to find a God for mankind. And for himself.

The TV series directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, is a joint production of Sky, HBO and Canal+ to air on Sky Atlantic from October in the five countries in which the media company operates (Italy, UK, Germany, Ireland and Austria) and in France on Canal+.
An international cast joins the two-time Academy Award nominee Jude Law starring as Pius XIII: award-winning actress Diane Keaton (Sister Mary), Silvio Orlando (Cardinal Voiello), Scott Shepherd (Cardinal Dussolier), Cécile de France (Sofia), Javier Cámara (Cardinal Gutierrez), Ludivine Sagnier (Esther), Tony Bertorelli (Cardinal Caltanissetta) and James Cromwell (Cardinal Michael Spencer).
