You’re the Worst: Cancel or Keep the FX Sitcom?

You're the Worst TV show on FX: season 2 or cancelled? This summer, FX introduced a new romantic sitcom called You’re the Worst. Have viewers fallen in love with this show? How are the ratings? Will this show be renewed for a second season or is it likely to be cancelled instead?

A dark comedy, You’re the Worst takes a modern look at love and happiness — as told through the eyes of two people (Chris Geere and Aya Cash) who haven’t been very successful with either. Desmin Borges and Kether Donohue play their friends.

The TV series debuted in mid-July to a small audience of 765,000 viewers. The second episode dropped 20% and the third installment fell even lower. Most recently, viewership seems to have leveled off to about half a million — not an impressive number.

It’s basically the lowest-rated scripted series that FX has right now. Saint George was cancelled with nearly 50% more viewers.

On the positive side, the show does have a small but devout group of fans — and the group seems to be growing.

While it’s difficult to know what’s good enough to earn a renewal from FX, it’s very likely that You’re the Worst will be cancelled.

What do you think? Do you like this series? Do you think that it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? What would you do to draw a bigger audience?

UPDATE: You’re the Worst has been renewed for a second season but is moving to FXX. Details here.
