48 Hours: NCIS: Season Two Ratings

48 Hours NCIS TV show on CBS: season 2 ratings (canceled renewed season 3?)

(CBS News)

Last spring, CBS introduced its 48 Hours: NCIS TV show, a true crime program poised to capitalize on the viewership of the news division’s 48 Hours, as well as the scripted NCIS TV series franchise. It didn’t make much of a splash in the Nielsen ratings (barely a ripple), but caught enough wind to navigate past the treacherous waters of cancellation. Now that it has set sail for a second season, how long will it remain seaworthy? Will 48 Hours: NCIS be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

The 48 Hours: NCIS TV show centers on true crime cases handled by the real U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Rocky Carroll narrates the CBS TV news magazine, which features actual NCIS agents sharing the investigation techniques they use in cases including murder, fraud, and terrorism. The series delves into the sorts of real cases that have inspired the NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and NCIS: New Orleans dramas — ones the agents will never forget.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

For comparisons: The first season of 48 Hours: NCIS on CBS averaged a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 4.665 million total viewers.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
