As part of the 48 Hours news magazine franchise, the 48 Hours: NCIS TV show centers on true crime cases handled by the real Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Carrol narrates, as agents share their investigation techniques they use in cases including murder, fraud, and terrorism.

The series delves into the sorts of real cases that have inspired the Tiffany Network’s scripted dramas NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and NCIS: New Orleans. 48 Hours: NCIS allows viewers to get to know the real agents who doggedly work cases, sometimes for more than a decade. The program highlights those cases they can never forget.

The United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigates felony crimes, works to prevent terrorism, and protects the secrets of both the Marine Corps and the Navy. The agency reports it operates out of more than 140 locations worldwide, as well as on every aircraft carrier and big-deck amphibious assault ship at sea.
