The 7D: Disney Series Cancelled; No Season Three

The 7D TV series has been cancelled after two seasons on Disney XD. Although there has been no official cancellation announcement, co-executive producer Tom Warburton (aka “Mr. Warburton”) has confirmed production on The 7D has ended. Warburton includes pictures of the series wrap party, in a post on his website. The cast and crew have known since just before the new year that The 7D would not be renewed for a third season.

The voice cast of The 7D includes: Kelly Osbourne, Jess Harnell, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bill Farmer, Maurice LaMarche, Kevin Michael Richardson, Dee Bradley Baker, Scott Menville, Stephen Stanton, Billy West, and Paul Rugg. Jay Leno and Whoopi Goldberg recur as Crystal Ball and Magic Mirror, respectively. Below, watch a video of the cast performing, at the wrap party.

Last Wednesday, April 20, 2016, production manager Jennifer Nelson and her team threw the series wrap party, which from the looks of it on Warburton’s blog, was not to be missed.

Set in the world of Jollywood, the animated adventure series “The 7D” presents a comedic take on the world of the Seven Dwarfs. The series follows the adventures of pint-sized heroes – Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc – as they work together to help the eccentric Queen Delightful keep her kingdom in order and fend off the Glooms, a novice warlock and witch couple who continually plot to overtake the throne. Produced by Disney Television Animation, the zany and broadly appealing series airs on Disney XD.

Situated deep within the Enchanted Forest, the village of Jollywood is where the 7D live and tend to their jewel mine. When summoned by The Bing Bong Bell, a magical bell that descends from the sky when Queen Delightful wishes to call upon the 7D, the brave heroes rush to their fair ruler’s side. Whether it be saving the village from a terrorizing giant or uncovering the Queen’s missing Magic Mirror, the 7D find a way to accomplish each task much to the chagrin of Lord Starchbottom, the Queen’s loyal aide who would prefer to handle any and all crises on his own.

Behind most of the haphazard schemes are the series’ comically inept villains, Grim and Hildy Gloom, whose plots to overthrow the queen and rule Jollywood are continually foiled by the 7D. Despite their thwarted efforts, The Glooms remain determined and retreat to their evil lair to conjure up their next devious ploy and try another day.

Leigh-Allyn Baker (Disney Channel’s “Good Luck Charlie”) is Queen Delightful. Disney Legend Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy) is Doc. Emmy winner Maurice LaMarche (“Pinky and the Brain”) is Grumpy. Emmy nominee Kevin Michael Richardson (Disney XD’s “Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja”) is Happy. Dee Bradley Baker (“Phineas and Ferb”) is Dopey. Scott Menville (“Teen Titans”) is Sneezy. Stephen Stanton (Disney Junior’s “Doc McStuffins”) is Sleepy. Billy West (“Ren & Stimpy”) is Bashful, and Paul Rugg (“Animaniacs”) is Lord Starchbottom. Jay Leno and Whoopi Goldberg recur as Crystal Ball and Magic Mirror, respectively.

The series is executive-produced by fourteen-time Emmy Award-winning Tom Ruegger (“Animaniacs,” “Tiny Toon Adventures”). Tom Warburton (“Codename: Kids Next Door”) serves as co-executive producer. Sherri Stoner (“Pinky and the Brain”) and Deanna Oliver (“Tiny Toon Adventures”) are co-story editors. Alfred Gimeno (“Tiny Toon Adventures”) and Charles Visser (“Animaniacs”) are the directors. Meme master Parry Gripp (“Do You Like Waffles?”) is the songwriter/composer for the series and also performs the theme song. Keith Horn (“Too Cool for Cupcakes”) is co-composer. “The 7D” carries a TV-Y parental guideline.
