All American: Season Two; Football Drama Returning for 2019-20 Season on The CW

All American TV show on The CW: season 2 renewal for 2019-20 seasonThis game isn’t over yet. The CW has renewed their All American TV show for a second season for 2019-20.

A football drama, All American stars Daniel Ezra, Taye Diggs, Samantha Logan, Bre-Z, Greta Onieogou, Monet Mazur, Michael Evans Behling, Cody Christian, Karimah Westbrook, and Jalyn Hall. Inspired by the life of NFL player Spencer Paysinger, the series centers on Spencer James (Ezra), a rising high school football player and an A student at Compton’s South Crenshaw High. When Beverly High football coach Billy Baker (Diggs) recruits Spencer to join his team, the young man must learn how to live in two worlds at once, maintain his grades, and still leave it all on the field.

The first season of All American averaged a 0.22 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 675,000 viewers. While the traditional ratings weren’t impressive, the series is apparently doing well on Netflix so viewership may see a boost in year two.

Today, the network also renewed Roswell, New Mexico (season two), In the Dark (season two), and The 100 (season seven) for the 2019-20 season. They join previously renewed series Arrow (eighth and final season), Charmed (season two), Black Lightning (season three), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season five), Dynasty (season three), The Flash (season six), Legacies (season two), Riverdale (season four), Supergirl (season five), and Supernatural (15th and final season).

“As we begin to plan for the 2019-2020 season, we’re thrilled to have this roster of 14 exceptionally creative and distinctive series, including all five first year shows, as the foundation on which to continue to build the multiplatform future of The CW,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “One of our key long-term goals has been to continually add more original programming all year round, especially in midseason and summer, and with these returning shows and the new series we’ll order as we get closer to the May upfront, next season on The CW is shaping up to be our most robust year round schedule yet.”
