A Netflix sci-fi drama based on the Richard K. Morgan cyberpunk novel, Altered Carbon stars stars Joel Kinnaman, Renée Elise Goldsberry, James Purefoy, Kristin Lehman, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Leonardo Nam, Hayley Law, Chris Conner, Ato Essandoh, and Trieu Tran. Recurring in season one are Will Yun Lee, Marlene Forte, Byron Mann, Tamara Taylor, Adam Busch, Olga Fonda, and Hiro Kanagawa.
The story unfolds in the 24th Century, when death is far from inevitable. When 22nd Century rebel Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman) returns to life in the future, he tries to track down a killer, by interviewing the victims. Because human beings can now download their consciousnesses and spin them up into another body (i.e. “sleeve”), death is no longer final. Enter the wealthy Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), who has lived this way for hundreds of years — at least until someone murdered him and destroyed his cortical stack.
