In reality, the ratings could fall quite a bit and still out-perform most of The CW’s other shows. In that light, the full season order of 22 episodes doesn’t seem like much of a risk for the network.
Debuting on October 10th, Arrow garnered a whopping 1.3 rating in the demographic and 3.55 million viewers. It was the biggest premiere on the small network in years.
Despite the fact that most new shows drop in their second week, the second episode of Arrow held strong in the demo and dropped just 14% in viewership (to 3.55 million).
Arrow star Stephen Amell tweeted the news, “Best way to start a Monday? Getting picked up for your back nine episodes. Thwick.”
