I am supposed to write something about Stephen Amell, star of The CW‘s Arrow TV series, to introduce you to the photo Amell tweeted of himself from the set, where he is hard at work on the superhero drama’s fifth season. The photo may well hold clues about Arrow season five.
The problem is, the photo has taken away not only my breath, but my ability to form sentences. It shows the Amell as Oliver Queen, in costume — or rather, largely out of it. Check it out for yourself, after the jump. Arrow also stars David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne, and Emily Bett Rickards.

Okay, my ability to write about TV (such that it is) seems to be returning so let’s talk about what is missing from the top photo — aside from Amell’s shirt. Oliver’s Bratva tattoo is AWOL. That, coupled with the longer hair, indicates this is a flashback.
In June, we reported EP Wendy Mericle said fans might well find out how Oliver came by that ink and how he learned to speak Russian. It looks that is happening sooner rather than later.
The fifth season of Arrow premieres on The CW, Wednesday October 5, 2016 at 8:00pm ET/PT. It will be followed by the debut of former Supernatural showrunner Jeremy Carver’s drama series, Frequency at 9:00. Frequency stars Peyton List, Riley Smith, and Mekhi Phifer.
