Season one of the American Crime Story TV show did quite well in the ratings, by FX standards. Since this is a true crime anthology series, the second season has a different focus and an updated title: The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Because FX has already renewed American Crime Story for a third season about Hurricane Katrina, fans shouldn’t don’t have to worry that it will be cancelled too soon. However, will the season two ratings justify further continuation of the series? Stay tuned.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story centers on the July 1997 murder of the Italian fashion designer. Edgar Ramirez stars as Gianni Versace, with Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan, Ricky Martin as Antonio D’Amico, and Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace. FX says, “The series examines how cultural homophobia and prejudice delayed law enforcement’s search for Cunanan, as well as Versace’s relationship with his sister and muse Donatella.” The cast also includes Dascha Polanco, Max Greenfield, Finn Wittrock, Cody Fern, Judith Light, Mike Farrell, and Jon Jon Briones.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The first season, American Crime Story: The People V. OJ Simpson, averaged a 1.33 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.286 million viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays.
