Franchise creator Mike Fleiss tweeted over the weekend that Bachelor Pad wouldn’t be back this summer but wouldn’t share any more information than that.
The first two seasons of Bachelor Pad were a moderate success for ABC, averaging a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.9 million viewers in 2010 and 6.3 million in season two.
Last summer however, the numbers came way down; averaging a just 1.3 rating and 4.0 million.
Its not a big surprise that the network is giving the show a rest this time around as they have a lot of other programming on tap. They also don’t want to risk wearing out their successful franchise.
The Bachelor just wrapped its 17th season and grew slightly year-to-year in the all-important demo. The new season of The Bachelorette is currently filming and is set to debut on May 20th.
What do you think? Will you miss watching Bachelor Pad this summer? Do you think it will be back next year? Do you think this is a good strategy by ABC?
