What’s This TV Show About?

A dating game show airing on the ABC television network, the 13th cycle of The Bachelorette follows Texas attorney Rachel Lindsay  — an alumna of the Nick Viall season of The Bachelor — on her quest for true love. In this installment, Lindsay and host Chris Harrison will welcome celebrity guests Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Ellen DeGeneres, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and up and coming country music star Russell Dickerson. Locations will include Hilton Head, South Carolina; Oslo, Norway; Copenhagen, Denmark; Geneva, Switzerland; the Swiss Alps; and Sweden. And, of course, the series will return to the USA for the traditional “hometown” dates.
 

Season 13 Ratings

The 13th season of The Bachelorette is averaging a 1.58 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.89 million viewers. Compared to season 12, that’s down by 20% and down by 14%, respectively. Find out how The Bachelorette stacks up against other ABC TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

Since The Bachelorette has already been renewed for a 14th season, back in mid-May, don’t worry about an imminent cancellation. I’ll be seeking my supper, elsewhere.  Still, the 13th cycle is notable, as it is the first season in the entire Bachelor franchise to feature an African-American lead. Seasons 11 and 12 earned higher ratings than season 10. I’ll keep an eye on the ratings, to see if The Bachelorette‘s (delayed) step towards diversity will garner an even larger audience.
