Barry: Henry Winkler Cast in HBO Comedy Series

Henry Winkler is the latest cast member to join the Barry TV series comedy pilot at HBO. A Bill Hader vehicle, in Barry the SNL alum plays the title character, a former Marine, working as a Midwestern hitman. When he takes a job in Los Angeles, Barry falls in with theater people and finds his tribe, if you will.

Per THR, Winkler co-stars, in Barry, as an inspirational acting instructor, Gene Cousineau. Earlier this month, Hindsight‘s Sarah Goldberg was cast as aspiring actress Sally, who introduces Barry to LA’s theater scene.

HBO gave Barry the green light back in mid-January. In addition to starring and directing, Hader will co-write and executive produce with Alec Berg.

These are happy days, for Winkler, who is an executive producer on the MacGyver reboot/prequel at CBS, a position he held on the original MacGyver TV series, too.
