Bet On Your Baby: Cancelled, No Season Three for ABC Series

BET ON YOUR BABYIt seems that ABC has outgrown Bet on Your Baby. The show has been removed from the network’s website and the child competition series won’t be back for a third season this summer.

On Bet On Your Baby, parents get to prove how well they know their baby. They try to predict their toddler’s next move in an effort to win money for their child’s future education. The series is hosted by actress and working mom Melissa Peterman.

Airing on Saturday nights, the series performed very poorly in the ratings in its first year, averaging a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.32 million viewers. It was renewed for a second season, likely thanks to being heavily sponsored by Walmart. The second season drew even lower ratings, averaging a 0.41 in the demo and 1.94 million.

It was reported in late 2014 that Electus International had sold the Bet On Your Baby format to broadcasters in China, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. It’s apparently a big success overseas but there’s just not much interest in the United States.

What do you think? Did you enjoy the Bet On Your Baby TV series on ABC? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season? Was it inappropriate to bet on what a child would do?
